Some Traditional Birthday Party Ideas for Girls
If you have a girl who is a tomboy, then these ideas might not work so well, but if your baby girl's favorite color is pink, then this is the place for you. The first idea works well for girls who are about four to ten years old, and it is an old fashioned tea party. When you start a party like this, you want to send out invitations that will invite your young guests to a tea party (or a garden tea party, if you have a backyard). The invitation serves to tell your guests when and where the party will take place, and it will tell them to wear their favorite dress.
Preparing for this party is actually quite simple. First, you set up a few tables, either inside or out, and cover them with table clothes (or sheets if you don't have any table clothes). Then you set the tables with plates, cups and utensils. If you do not want to use your plates and cups, you can buy nice, clear plastic ones that will work just as well. Instead of tea, you can serve juice or flavored ice tea. For snacks, you can make small sandwiches, just cut them into triangles and cut off the crusts for a dainty look. Mini-cupcakes or tarts make a great addition to the menu.
If you would like to include an activity, then making jewelry would be a great addition to this party. All you have to do is provide some string or wire and some inexpensive beads. The girls will add whatever beads that they want to a necklace or bracelet (or both), and an adult can help them tie the ends or add a clasp. This activity then also serves as your party favor.
For older girls, ages twelve to about fifteen, might enjoy a makeover and sleepover party. Like the tea party idea, you invite all the girls to come over wearing their favorite dress, but you tell them not to do their hair or makeup until they get there. When they arrive, you and maybe some helpful friends can do their makeup and their hair while they eat snacks and listen to music. Then if you want, you can take them to a nice restaurant or serve a nice, candlelit dinner at your house. Don't forget to take lots of pictures so that you can send them to your guests later. If you make it a sleepover party, it will be even more fun, and the girls can watch movies or play games.
