Kids' Birthday Party Ideas: The Puppy Party
If you are looking for the perfect kid's birthday party that is good for both boys and girls, then the puppy or dog birthday party is a great idea. This is both an easy and fun party. If you have dogs, they will have to be invited to this party as well, and you can invite your friends' dogs, if they are well-behaved. First, you can send out invitations with puppies or paw prints on them, inviting them to your dog house for a puppy party play date.
When your guests arrive you can give them puppy ears and tails. To make the ears all you need is some felt and some headbands. With a little glue, you can attach the felt pieces to the headbands so that each child can have one. You can make different types of ears, such as pointy ones and rounder ones, and you could also use black felt and brown felt. For the tails all you need is some twine or string and some more felt. Attach different size strips of felt to a belt of string that can be tied around each child's waist. You can also do some simple face painting to complete the puppy look, and all you need to do is draw a pink or black dot on the nose and add some whiskers on the child's cheeks. Don't forget to decorate your house with dog stuffed animals.
Once all your guests have arrived, you can have them participate in puppy activities. For example, you can buy some wide ribbon that each child can decorate with markers and accessories in order to make their own dog collars. You can also play pin the tail on the puppy. All you need is a piece of poster board that you draw a puppy on and another piece of felt. You can also play a game of tug of war or relay race where each child carries a tennis ball (like in a game of fetch) to the next member of his or her team.
Once all the little puppies are ready to eat, you have a lot of fun options. First, for a snack, you can make a large batch of trail mix and call it dog food. You can also make bone-shaped cookies. A cute birthday cake idea is to make a small round cake and make three or four cupcakes. Arrange the cake and cupcakes into the shape of a paw print and frost everything. Now you have a puppy paw print cake. It's also fairly easy to find paper plates that have puppies on them, as well as cups and napkins.
For a quiet activity as you wait for the parents to arrive, you can try coloring pages that feature puppies or you can show a dog-themed movie, such as Lady and the Tramp, All Dogs Go To Heaven, or Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey. This puppy party is sure to be paw-fectly fun.
